Tonight I went to see the movie Julie & Julia. It was a story about a woman in Queens who decides to cook all of Julia Childs' recipes in one year and blog about it. The movie simultaneously told the story about Julia Childs creating her cookbook, from first moving to Paris and learning french cooking. It was a wonderful movie. I wasn't sure if I would love it but it ended up giving me a bit of a lovey glow when I came out of the theatre. Julie and Julia had such wonderful support in their lives and loved cooking so much. I know it has nothing to do with me but I was walking on a cloud when I came home, in love with their love of cooking.
I came in the door and Ken was out for a run but had made dinner and left it for me. I was struck by how lucky I was. It's just the melodrama of the movies, I know, but it felt like a great evening and I was very sentimental when I came home and saw what was waiting for me.
As for Julie & Julia, it was a great film that reminded me why I love movies - getting lost in the characters and the stories. Maybe I just happened to see it at the right moment for me but I'm so glad I did.
PS - I've been very much myself lately, recovering from being so down. Phew.
