North American Problems

Are there objects, something you have always wanted, that kind of stay with you? Something you couldn't just go out and get whether it was too much money or it just isn't for sale? I think the one that sticks out in my mind is a piece of Japanese Tupperware that my parents have. It's a small, cylindrical decander, clear with a black lid. The decanter itself is made of glass. I think they got it from my aunt when she worked for Tupperware. I looked high and low on the Internet and haven't found anything like it. Even ebay is a dead end. I wonder, if I had found it right away the first time I looked for it, would I have forgotten about its existence by now? Not sure. All I know is that I love it and want it but can't have it! I live in the land of maple syrup and have no way to decant it in a pretty way. What a first world problem.

Settled In

It has been a while since I've last posted. It felt like only days ago. Time is flying by now that Ken and I are living together. I had this naive idea that having more than one body in the house would mean life gets taken care of twice as quickly. Yup. Naive. It takes twice as long. Not because either of us is lazy. Or either of us is slow. But there must be four times as much stuff to get done if the math is right.

But that said, I love every minute of it. I'm really happy, we both are. It's been a few weeks and everything is going smoothly. We're almost completely unpacked, the place looks beautiful, and we've had three parties already. A huge housewarming (33 people including us) that was a ton of fun. And two dinner parties that went perfectly. I love our new home and the things it allows us to do. Plus I get to see Ken a lot more which is the whole point. He's a wonderful roommate.
